April journal “unboxing”
This is the “unboxing” of the March mailer with the April journal, “Amidst the Storms”!
When it comes to physical storms, some of us enjoy the rain and others of us can’t wait for it to be over. But when it comes to figurative storms, we’re all in the same boat, so to speak.
It’s a time of uncertainty, confusion, doubt, or complete overwhelm. And it can be hard to know how to navigate any of it, much less how to keep ourselves from panicking. If we rely on ourselves, we know it’s hopeless... but we have a navigator in the storm who surpasses our greatest need.
He is the lighthouse on whom we can keep our gaze and know that he is holding us steady to bring us ashore. Christ is the sure and steadfast anchor of our soul, having gone before us (Hebrews 6:19-20) so he could be with us always. The storm may not stop for awhile, but we know who is in the boat with us. We know the One who walks on water. And we know the One who holds us and quiets our souls.
So here’s the reminder that in any and every storm, he truly is God -- over the storm and over us...
This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying in April 2025! So let’s take a closer look at everything in the study and the mailer…
The journal
Studying about both the physical and figurative storms is interesting. It’s almost two different studies. Because God is the Creator of the physical storms. And yet he is the one we can always turn to in any storm.
There are some physical storms in the Bible that are intended to help us understand something important. Some are obvious while others may be more indirect.
And then there are the figurative storms, times in our lives when everything is crazy and we don’t know which side is up, much less how to make it out of the storm. That is something we see all throughout the Bible in several different ways.
The constant in every storm is God. Where the storm comes from, God is always the refuge in it.
We might feel hopeless in the midst of the storm. But the moment we turn to God, we realize that he is the God over the storms and the God who loves us enough to die for us.
He will carry us through the storms.
The physical storms: the pages with the clouds are talking about actual times of storm, thunder, or heavy rain in the Bible. But there are lessons that come from the stories of these physical storms...
The figurative storms: the pages with the water scene are talking about figurative “storms,” times of hardship and fear and doubt. And there is encouragement from these, too (most that match the lessons we see from the physical storms).
Jesus in the storm: then, days 11-20 are all focused on the storms in the gospels, with Jesus. We look at each account, even if it’s the same story, and think through each piece separately and together. These are real and figurative storms - but with Jesus.
Studying through this takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.
But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, there are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.
So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!
The washi tape
As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!
This month’s washi tape is a water theme/blue patterned and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! For more details, check out our “How to use washi tape for Bible journaling” blog at https://www.evergreencypress.com/blog/how-to-use-washi-tape-for-bible-journaling.
Calming blue lined pocket notebook
The next “extra” is a little lined notebook in a blue shade.
Small enough to fit in your bag but for any day-to day notes, for extra journaling thoughts, or a prayer notebook: day-to-day notes including grocery list, to-do list, or just things you don’t want to forget; extra journaling thoughts as you journal and want to remember as you go about your day; or a prayer journal to record heart-felt prayers to the One who holds us steady in the storms.
For passport for 2025 - April sticker
And for those who joined our Everseeking Resolution for 2025 (those subscribed by December 1, 2024), we added the matching sticker that goes inside our 2025 everseeking passport (that was sent earlier)! We look forward to hearing your favorite verse, a takeaway and notes.
It’s our encouragement to stay strong in being everseeking of God in 2025 — our everseeking resolution!
Homeschool edition
We also have everseeking for homeschool!
The homeschool edition sends out the same journal of the month for the girl to study through. With the 20 days of the main study, she gets to also go through one page a day for each weekday for the 4 weeks of the month.
The difference with the homeschool edition is that instead of the extras, the girl receives three pages…
Pacing guide: this takes the 20 days and schedules them in the specific month of study (in this case, April 2025). Here, she can check off each day as she completes it.
Discussion questions: after the girl has completed her study page for the day, there is an extra discussion question that matches (for example, discussion question number 4 goes with day 04 of the study). This is intended to help the girl explain what she has studied and for the teacher and girl to further discuss what the study of God’s Word means in her life.
Knowing Scripture/ end-of-month / encouragement: every month, the knowing Scripture section remains the same, but reminds the girl to keep a part of the study deep on her heart. She selects her theme verse for the study and writes it on the pacing guide to look at daily and then talk about it with the teacher throughout the month. The end of month section has an activity or assignment that helps the girl think through the study as a whole from a specific perspective as a review. And finally, the encouragement is for the teacher, to bolster her as she guides the girl in her care in God’s Word — making an eternal difference in her life!
