Salvation is only God’s to give

We don’t think we do, but we often get confused as to where we can find salvation.

At least, we act like it.

We live a life that shows we think so many things can deliver us from what we’re wrestling with. But that very complex and heartbreaking task belongs to God alone. Only he can save us.

Our salvation wasn’t easy.

It’s not something any “god” would sign up for. The path to find our lost souls is treacherous. Jesus had to go through horrific things to find us — things we still don’t even fully realize. Things we could be fully ashamed to ask him to do if we had to ask.

Thankfully we didn’t have to.

He already knew. He knew all the details of what it would be like before he became flesh to fulfill the purpose he set out to do (John 1:14, John 18:37, Mark 8:31, Luke 9:51).

And he decided long ago that we were worth it (Ephesians 1:4-5).

But it didn’t end there.

Because when Jesus did everything to make his way to us sinners and gave all of himself so we can have a way out through him, most would consider the mission “failed”…

…because most of us don’t let Jesus deliver us.

We sit as prisoners in the dungeon, alone and in complete darkness (Isaiah 42:7). And instead of being overwhelmed with gratitude — not only that there’s a way out, but that someone came to personally and painstakingly rescue us — we turn our face away. And we reject the only One who truly loves us.

And the heart of God breaks for the children that might never get to be with him.

As much as it hurts us, it hurts God more.

This may now be those we know around us.

But at one point, this was us. We had hurt God time and time again. We struggled as Jesus brought us out of the dungeon of darkness, wrestling to choose him instead of sitting in our sin.

But now, in our salvation, Jesus reminds us that we are his now.

We are out. We are free. We belong to another, to our Savior (Romans 7:4).

And though at one time the wretched being was us, we are no longer defined by the sin we committed. We are washed, we are sanctified, and we are justified (1 Corinthians 6:11). Not because of anything we did — only and always because of what Christ has done.

So now we live, walking in new life, unburdened by the sins Satan piled on us.

This salvation our helmet (Ephesians 6:17). It protects us. It reminds us where we came from and whose we are. We wear it proudly, knowing we only have it thanks to our Savior.

And we don’t want to keep it a secret.

We don’t want one soul left behind while there’s a way out. Because Christ came for each individual one of us. So with both boldness and gentleness, with both urgency and patience, with both tough love and tender love, we share the gospel with the souls around us.

We tell them the truth:

Salvation is found in no one else (Acts 4:12).

He has done it (John 19:30).

And God has been waiting for them — and will wait as long as it takes (2 Peter 3:9).

This is what we’ve been studying in this month of April (2026) in our everseeking Bible journal subscription! Each day has been looking at the armor of God and how important that is for us as we live for Christ.

Let’s keep studying together!

If you’d like to study from this journal, we might have extra copies in our extra inventory here.

And if you’d like to study with us every month from a new passage or theme of the Bible with your own journal, join us in everseeking here!

Let’s not grow weary, friend, and continue to study his Word so we can know him and live wonderfully in him.
