August journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the July mailer with the August journal, “Planted by God”!

There are a few things that our Creator has let us as the created understand in a very tangible way. The idea of planting is one of them.

We can personally know everything that goes into it: we can gather seed, we can prepare the environment and plant, we can water and tend... and we can watch it grow, wither, or any number of things in between. Just like God gathers us, preparing everything for us, giving us everything we need, nurturing us and providing us with chance after chance to thrive.

The potential each of us has if we but let God work is immeasurable.

It has been that way for centuries, even recorded all throughout the Bible. So let’s see God’s plan when we are planted in Him, what happens when we choose to be planted elsewhere, and how we can stay rooted in God and flourish, just as we are meant to in Him.

This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying in August 2025! So let’s take a closer look at everything in the study and the mailer…

The journal

God has always wanted to plant us in a good place. And he, above all, knows where that is – close to his side.

But when he created us, he gave us free will.

It’s our choice whether we let him plant us. And it’s our choice what we in turn plant. It’s been that way since the beginning.

From creation to bringing his people out of Egypt into a good land of their own, God planted.

In times of unrest and in times of peace, God planted.

When his people disobeyed and had to be cast out then redeemed, God planted.

And now in the forever kingdom of God with salvation through Christ, God continues to plant.

It’s still our choice. Do we choose to be a part of the planting of the Lord or do we try to do it ourselves?

So let’s see what it all means and how we can trust our God, the one who plants us with patience and purpose...

As we study what it means to be planted by God, starting from creation, we get to see the patience and purpose that God has. He has always wanted what’s best for his people, for us.

Each day looks at a different “planting,” most of God, some of ours as mankind. In the “plant” section, write out the section of the verse that has the word “plant” or a variant of it; in the question section, write out the context and think through the passage; and then enjoy reading thoughts and writing your own thoughts at how it applies in your life.

The 20 days are divided into four sections:

1- before the time of the kings of Israel
2- in the Psalms and Proverbs
3- in the time of the prophets
4- in the New Testament

Studying through this takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.

But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, there are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.

In this journal… We think through the study a little deeper. The recurring theme is how God wants to plant us in good things and let us thrive in Him. But like we’ll see with the people of God in the Old Testament, we’re not always willing. So in these optional pages, days 21-25 look at Hosea 10:12, where God encourages us to break our fallow ground and days 26-30 look at how we can then flourish in the beautiful and capable hands of our God.

So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!

The washi tape

As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!

This month’s washi tape is matches our sunflower theme and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! For more details, check out our “How to use washi tape for Bible journaling” blog at https://www.evergreencypress.com/blog/how-to-use-washi-tape-for-bible-journaling.

Sunflower comfort pen

The next “extra” is a sunflower comfort pen with which to journal

We can never have too many pens… And we couldn’t pass up the chance to share a fun sunflower print, so we enjoyed sharing one of the most practical journaling extras along with the fun pattern!

Sunflower verse cards

The next “extra” is a set of 2-3 sunflower verse cards to brighten our subscribers’ days! In keeping with encouragement to stay in God, these cards are perfect to tape to the mirror, keep in the car, or on the kitchen counter/fridge as a reminder that God is over all.

Additionally, each came with an additional hidden verse on the back!

Plantable seed paper tag

In keeping with the planting theme for the month, our last “extra” for this month is a small plantable seed paper tag. Getting to see first hand the growth, or potential lack thereof, of something we personally plant can help us to understand the concept of planting (spiritually) from God’s perspective!

For passport for 2025 - August sticker

And finally for those who joined our Everseeking Resolution for 2025 (those subscribed by December 1, 2024), we added the matching sticker that goes inside our 2025 everseeking passport (that was sent earlier)! We look forward to hearing your favorite verse, a takeaway and notes.

It’s our encouragement to stay strong in being everseeking of God in 2025 — our everseeking resolution!

Homeschool edition

We also have everseeking for homeschool!

The homeschool edition sends out the same journal of the month for the girl to study through. With the 20 days of the main study, she gets to also go through one page a day for each weekday for the 4 weeks of the month.

The difference with the homeschool edition is that instead of the extras, the girl receives three pages…

  1. Pacing guide: this takes the 20 days and schedules them in the specific month of study (in this case, July 2025). Here, she can check off each day as she completes it.

  2. Discussion questions: after the girl has completed her study page for the day, there is an extra discussion question that matches (for example, discussion question number 4 goes with day 04 of the study). This is intended to help the girl explain what she has studied and for the teacher and girl to further discuss what the study of God’s Word means in her life.

  3. Knowing Scripture/ end-of-month / encouragement: every month, the knowing Scripture section remains the same, but reminds the girl to keep a part of the study deep on her heart. She selects her theme verse for the study and writes it on the pacing guide to look at daily and then talk about it with the teacher throughout the month. The end of month section has an activity or assignment that helps the girl think through the study as a whole from a specific perspective as a review. And finally, the encouragement is for the teacher, to bolster her as she guides the girl in her care in God’s Word — making an eternal difference in her life!
