November journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the October mailer with the November journal, “Justice and mercy”!

There are several things in our lives that we take for granted. Most of the time, we appreciate what we have when we realize those things could be taken away.

So let’s imagine and ask the questions... what if God wasn’t just? How would we treat unjust situations without the promise that God would make things right in the end? How could we have a standard for what is right and wrong if there was no just God to put authority behind it?

And what if God wasn’t merciful? What if everyone was held accountable to the wrong they did? How could we have any reason to live, any hope in this life if we knew we were doomed from our first sin? So now... with all of the very real answers to these questions in mind, we come before the throne of God, who IS just and who IS merciful. It changes everything for us. Both. Neither one without the other. In light of this, let’s see for ourselves how God is just and how God is merciful...

This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying in November 2025! So let’s take a closer look at everything in the study and the mailer…

The journal

Both are true. God is just. And God is merciful.

And whether we realize it or not, we need both.

In the times of our lives when there has been a big or even small injustice, we get indignant and we want it to be put to right. We know vengeance is God’s and not ours, and our prayers may be full of asking our God of justice to make things right.

In the same way, there are the times in our lives where we feel overwhelmed by a heavy situation, wishing the price didn’t have to be paid for it, and we long for mercy. We know God has proven that he is merciful, and so our prayers may be full of pleading that our God of mercy would heal things.

It doesn’t really make sense. How can God fully deliver justice and at the same time be fully merciful?

But this is our God. We don’t have to wonder if it’s true. The Bible proves it over and over again in both the Old and New Testament as we’ll get to see.

He doesn’t negate one to give us the other.

God is just. And God is merciful.

We know that God is a just God. But we also know that he is a merciful God. They aren’t separate things. And one can be true without negating the other.

We see God both as just and as merciful all throughout the Bible. And so we take it a little at a time...

LEFT PAGES: looking at God’s justice. Read the main passage and note God’s justice. Then on the “legal pad,” write down how this justice is deserved and right. Use the verse already noted to connect and help you think through it. Then write down three words to describe God through it and read through the note of encouragement.

RIGHT PAGES: looking at God’s mercy. In a similar situation, read the main passage and note God’s mercy. Then read other verses in the Bible that continue with that same thought, answering each question. Then again write down three words to describe God through this and read through the note of encouragement.

Studying through this takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.

But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, there are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.

In this journal… God is just and merciful – and he calls us to be the same. It can be hard, where one wins out over the other in different situations or times of our lives. But if we are followers of God, we live in Him. And it’s not of our own strength, but we remain just and show mercy as He does.

So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!

The washi tape

As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!

This month’s washi tape matches the violet art theme for this month and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! For more details, check out our “How to use washi tape for Bible journaling” blog at https://www.evergreencypress.com/blog/how-to-use-washi-tape-for-bible-journaling.

Homeschool edition

We also have everseeking for homeschool!

The homeschool edition sends out the same journal of the month for the girl to study through. With the 20 days of the main study, she gets to also go through one page a day for each weekday for the 4 weeks of the month.

The difference with the homeschool edition is that instead of the extras, the girl receives three pages…

  1. Pacing guide: this takes the 20 days and schedules them in the specific month of study (in this case, November 2025). Here, she can check off each day as she completes it.

  2. Discussion questions: after the girl has completed her study page for the day, there is an extra discussion question that matches (for example, discussion question number 4 goes with day 04 of the study). This is intended to help the girl explain what she has studied and for the teacher and girl to further discuss what the study of God’s Word means in her life.

  3. Knowing Scripture/ end-of-month / encouragement: every month, the knowing Scripture section remains the same, but reminds the girl to keep a part of the study deep on her heart. She selects her theme verse for the study and writes it on the pacing guide to look at daily and then talk about it with the teacher throughout the month. The end of month section has an activity or assignment that helps the girl think through the study as a whole from a specific perspective as a review. And finally, the encouragement is for the teacher, to bolster her as she guides the girl in her care in God’s Word — making an eternal difference in her life!
