October journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the September mailer with the October journal, “Truly, I say to you”!

Jesus was very plain about the meaning of his words:

“If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” John 8:46-47

There are several statements of Jesus that start with “Truly, I say to you.” For us who long for the truth, it’s beautiful. It doesn’t mean that sometimes the truth isn’t hard to hear. But we know that it is sure and steadfast, words on which we can build our full hope.

But if we are not with God, his words bounce off of us - and our lives show that we don’t treat them with much respect because we don’t live by them. The second step is to do what God’s Word says. But the first step is to hear the word of God, treasuring every real truth that Jesus shares. So let’s see specifically what Jesus truly tells us...

This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying in October 2025! So let’s take a closer look at everything in the study and the mailer…

The journal

When someone tells us, “Seriously” or “Actually...” we tend to listen a little closer, thinking they’re about to tell us something that’s worth paying attention to.

So when the Son of God say, “Truly, I say to you...” - it’s without a doubt something to pay attention to.

It doesn’t mean anything else Jesus said is untrue. It just emphasizes the importance of his statement, letting us lean in to understand a truth that he shares.

And it’s not always what we would think.

For example, which do you think is a “truly” statement:

  • “...unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

  • “...no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.”

  • “...only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven.”

  • “...whoever believes has eternal life.”

Read them again if you need to...

And if you guessed all of them, then you’re correct! Jesus didn’t waste words, so it’s worth looking at what things he found important to emphasize and what it means for us in our lives.

We don’t want to waste a word that Jesus tells us. His words are precious to us, shaping our hearts and minds and souls so we can look more like Him. So let’s see what he truly tells us...

How many times have we been reading a passage or completing a study and read these words of Jesus: “Truly I say to you”? And yet how many of these important statements do we remember? So in this study, we’ll be gathering as many of these statements as we can to really think through them.

Each day, we’ll study a passage that states, “Truly I say to you” by writing out what Jesus said, looking at the context if needed, and then thinking through it with a follow up question.

We’ll then connect it with another part of Scripture by writing down what is similar between the two passages.

And then we’ll ponder with a note of encouragement and summarize the takeaway of what Jesus said in the “Jesus said this is important” section.

Studying through this takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.

But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, there are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.

In this journal… And since we ran out of days to study the “Truly I say to you” statements in our main study, we’ll be looking at a few more of them in our optional pages. These have the same verse and context reference but leave you more room to think through it on your own and what it means in our own lives.

So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!

The washi tape

As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!

This month’s washi tape matches the autumn theme for this month and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! For more details, check out our “How to use washi tape for Bible journaling” blog at https://www.evergreencypress.com/blog/how-to-use-washi-tape-for-bible-journaling.

Fall sticker sheet

The next “extra” is a full sticker sheet of fall stickers!

Journaling is so much more fun with stickers — and with the seasons changing, it’s fun to add colors of autumn to the journal. And we love that this sticker sheet nearly has a sticker for each of the twenty days of the main study!

Leather heart encouragement bookmark

The next “extra” is both practical and encouraging.

This little heart bookmark fits right over a corner of a page, perfect to keep tabs on where you are in your study. Just find the little leather bookmark to find your spot and be encouraged by the small reminder from Scripture at the same time!

For passport for 2025 - October sticker

And finally for those who joined our Everseeking Resolution for 2025 (those subscribed by December 1, 2024), we added the matching sticker that goes inside our 2025 everseeking passport (that was sent earlier)! We look forward to hearing your favorite verse, a takeaway and notes.

It’s our encouragement to stay strong in being everseeking of God in 2025 — our everseeking resolution!

Homeschool edition

We also have everseeking for homeschool!

The homeschool edition sends out the same journal of the month for the girl to study through. With the 20 days of the main study, she gets to also go through one page a day for each weekday for the 4 weeks of the month.

The difference with the homeschool edition is that instead of the extras, the girl receives three pages…

  1. Pacing guide: this takes the 20 days and schedules them in the specific month of study (in this case, July 2025). Here, she can check off each day as she completes it.

  2. Discussion questions: after the girl has completed her study page for the day, there is an extra discussion question that matches (for example, discussion question number 4 goes with day 04 of the study). This is intended to help the girl explain what she has studied and for the teacher and girl to further discuss what the study of God’s Word means in her life.

  3. Knowing Scripture/ end-of-month / encouragement: every month, the knowing Scripture section remains the same, but reminds the girl to keep a part of the study deep on her heart. She selects her theme verse for the study and writes it on the pacing guide to look at daily and then talk about it with the teacher throughout the month. The end of month section has an activity or assignment that helps the girl think through the study as a whole from a specific perspective as a review. And finally, the encouragement is for the teacher, to bolster her as she guides the girl in her care in God’s Word — making an eternal difference in her life!
